VFRS Hosts Youth Fire Academy!

In April and in May 2011, the Vancouver Fire and Rescue Services hosted two week-long fire academies for high school kids.

They did a great job, and we thought you might enjoy seeing and hearing a little about what happened there!

VIDEO: Urban Search and Rescue has a new training centre!

On May 5, 2011, Vancouver Fire and Rescue Services (VFRS) and the City of Vancouver, together with Urban Search and Rescue (USAR), BC Ambulance Service, and the Vancouver Police Department, held a grand opening ceremony for the new USAR training centre.

Of course, the band was there!

CPR Training for the public

If you are interested in learning how to do CPR (cardio-pulmonary resuscitation), why not learn from people who do it on a regular basis?

CPR and first aid training delivered by professional firefighters is a joint project between the Vancouver Fire and Rescue Services and the International Association of Firefighters Union (Local 18).

Every year, in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, the Canadian Fallen Firefighters Foundation holds a memorial event honouring those firefighters who have died in the line of duty.
