EVENT: Firefighters’ Ride for Cancer, May 18, Burrard and Robson in Vancouver

On May 18, 2011, the Vancouver Fire and Rescue Services Band will be supporting our fellow firefighters as they “ride to Seattle” — on stationary bikes — to raise funds to fight cancer.

The riders go for hours, but we will just be there during the lunch hour, serenading them from noon to 1 pm.

The location is the corner of Burrard and Robson in downtown Vancouver.

VIDEO: Urban Search and Rescue has a new training centre!

On May 5, 2011, Vancouver Fire and Rescue Services (VFRS) and the City of Vancouver, together with Urban Search and Rescue (USAR), BC Ambulance Service, and the Vancouver Police Department, held a grand opening ceremony for the new USAR training centre.

Of course, the band was there!

CPR Training for the public

If you are interested in learning how to do CPR (cardio-pulmonary resuscitation), why not learn from people who do it on a regular basis?

CPR and first aid training delivered by professional firefighters is a joint project between the Vancouver Fire and Rescue Services and the International Association of Firefighters Union (Local 18).

Pictures from the St. Patrick’s Day Parade 2011

Here are some pictures from the 2011 St. Patrick’s Day Parade on a gorgeous spring day in downtown Vancouver!
