Pictures from the St. Patrick’s Day Parade 2011

Part of the band in the back of a fire department pickup for the St. Patrick's Day ParadeHere are some pictures from the 2011 St. Patrick’s Day Parade on a gorgeous spring day in downtown Vancouver!

For the parade, we marshalled (got organized with all the other parade entrants) on the deck of the Granville Street bridge, which meant we got to soak in the sun for a while, and get a few photos of some of the other entrants, before the parade rolled out. Then we travelled north (the wrong way!) down the Howe Street on-ramp and all the way up Howe Street (still going the wrong way) to Georgia, where we turned east (right) and ended in front of the Hudson’s Bay Store.

A number of firefighters came with us and handed out stickers and hats to the kids along the parade route, while the honour guard marched and did drills along the way. Two beautiful antique fire trucks from New Westminster and West Vancouver Fire Departments led the way, and a Vancouver Fire and Rescue Services ladder truck took up the rear.

Apparently over 200,000 people came out for the parade: we hope you all had as wonderful time as we did!

See you next year!

Band Pictures:

Most of these pictures were taken with a Canon PowerShot S5IS, with a couple of them taken with an iPhone 4. Most of these pictures were taken by Captain Al, our rig driver. The picture of the trombone section was taken by one of our friends in the crowd! (Thank you!)

More Parade Pictures:

Some of these pictures were taken with a Canon PowerShot S5IS, but most were taken with an iPhone 4. Most of these pictures were taken by Band Member EA.

  1. Do you people have a facebook fan page? I looked for one on twitter but could not discover one, I would really like to become a fan!

  2. Yes, we do! Our Facebook Page is at http://www.facebook.com/FirefightersBand. We also have a link to all our profiles, as well as to the Vancouver Fire and Rescue Services webpage, right under the Search Box in the right-hand column on most pages of the site. Just look for the little blue square icon with a white “f” in it…

    Cheers!
