About

The Vancouver Fire and Rescue Services Band is a community outreach program of the Vancouver Fire and Rescue Services (VFRS) Department of the City of Vancouver. We are also the official band of the City of Vancouver, and often play for both formal and community events hosted by the City.

The band is made up of active-duty and retired firefighters, along with a few civilians, from all over the Metro Vancouver area. We perform in public venues a number of times throughout the year and in many different municipalities throughout Metro Vancouver. We also enjoy the occasional band trip to other areas of BC as well, such as Victoria, Nanaimo, and other towns throughout the province.

Founded in 1927, we believe we are the longest-serving fire department band in North America! We have a long and proud history, and a number of our members have been part of it for more than a quarter-century; we even have one band member who started out with the Kitsilano Boys Band in his youth and transferred to this band over fifty years ago!

We are extremely proud to serve the people of Metro Vancouver, and especially to represent the City of Vancouver and the Vancouver Fire and Rescue Services both at home and further afield. If you have a public event or parade coming up at which you would like us to consider playing, please contact us through our online contact form.
